Funky Pillo!
The inspiration for Funky Pillo! came from the artists sister. One day, the designer was unrolling a large roll of neon pink zebra print velvet, the velvet was going to be made into skating costumes,
when her younger sister walked by the cutting table, and in a loud voice exclaimed, "Wow that would make one Funky Pillow!"
Having spent most of her design career making costumes, swimwear and dresses it never occured to her to try stretch fabric in home decor. Intrigued the artist began to research
the latest in home fashion and discovered that stretch fabric would actually be ideal.
Many women she talked to about home fashion complained that it was hard to launder their home fashions and keep them looking nice. On top of which if you have pets or children you where doomed with
uninspiring decor which could hold up against the onslaught. Stretch fabric, especially velvet and fabric designed for the sports industry is inherently easy to care for.
Much of it is wash and wear and designed to stand up to the rough and tumble use of the sports and dance arena. Hum a fabric that looks nice, washes easily and handles tough wear and tear? It seemed
a match made in heaven!
